CHILD AND YOUTH PSYCHOTHERAPY
I offer psychotherapy for children and teens, particularly those who are struggling with anxiety, mood or behaviour challenges, and emotion regulation issues, and those who are autistic and/or ADHD. My approach incorporates attachment-based strategies, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, play therapy, mindfulness, and other therapeutic and teaching methods.
Therapy for children isn't just about talking. Many children feel most comfortable opening up when engaged in another activity, and reflection is prompted by the creative use of games, art, projects, and role play. As I work with a child in whatever form best suits their personality, I'm always focused on the development of skills that promote resilience, foster healthy, rewarding relationships with self and others, and encourage the creation of meaningful and engaged lives.
CAREGIVER COACHING
I provide coaching and support for parents and caregivers around addressing challenging behaviours, nurturing and repairing family relationships, and helping children develop emotional intelligence. To say that parenting is challenging is an understatement. It is incredibly common to struggle with discipline, establishing and maintaining boundaries, talking about and responding to children's feelings, and to feel self-doubt and anxiety about whether you're getting it "right."
Parent coaching sessions focus on developing a shared framework by which to understand a child’s behaviour and family relationships. Parents are supported in accessing perspective and skills that empower them to connect deeply with their children and navigate challenging moments with confidence and a greater sense of calm.
